Hebrews 5:11-14

“We are in a natural process of constantly developing our senses with the horizontal (this worldly life).  We are sensitive to the horizontal and we become developed in that all week long.  Our senses are totally sensitive to something different than the Spiritual things of God.”

This Friday’s Featured study comes from our 2004 series in the book of Hebrews.  It is also a tie-in to this week’s Matthew study (Matthew 13:1-23 Part 3) giving further explanation of this passage that Pastor Bill touched on briefly.

In this passage, the writer of Hebrews is presenting growth in the Christ as the same as athletic conditioning.  He is talking about exercising the human faculties of sensing and perception.  As you experience the Word of God – God’s Spirit ministering through His Word – there is a process that is taking place where your senses are being exercised, where we are becoming more in tune and more sensitive to the Spirit of God and what God’s Word is saying.
